Our Services

Our range of services focus on evidence-based cardiac rehabilitation and general exercise for your health, designed to align with NHS and national guidelines. We are committed to helping you improve your heart health through tailored programmes and expert support.

What is Cardiac Rehab?

Cardiac rehabilitation supports your recovery, enabling you to regain a fulfilling life after a heart attack, heart surgery, or a new heart diagnosis such as heart failure (see examples of heart conditions and events below). This personalised programme encompasses exercise, education, and support tailored to your unique circumstances and needs. It helps individuals to address lifestyle changes, understand their heart health, maintain physical activity, and look after their emotional wellbeing.

Cardiac rehab has been shown to reduce hospital admissions, lower deaths from cardiovascular disease, reduce the risk of further cardiovascular events, and improve quality of life (National Audit of Cardiac Rehabilitation).

What is Exercise for Health?

"Whatever your age, there's strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life.

Exercise can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as coronary heart diseasestroketype 2 diabetes and cancer, and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%. Research also shows that physical activity can boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress." - NHS Benefits of Exercise

Further Information About Our Programmes

Initial Consultation and Assessment

At your initial free telephone consultation, we will discuss your individual needs and begin to design a programme tailored specifically to you. This will be followed by a comprehensive in-person assessment, allowing us to develop a safe and effective exercise programme and identify any relevant risk factors for heart disease. Together, we will set both short and long-term goals to help you return to your usual activities and reduce your risk of future cardiac events.

Frequency

Cardiac rehabilitation programmes typically include one supervised exercise session per week for a minimum of eight weeks. Our programmes are fully personalised to suit your needs, with flexible appointment times available to fit around your schedule. Rehabilitation sessions can take place in our custom-built, air-conditioned Surrey Cardiac Rehab gym in Merrow, Guildford, or, depending on your location, we can provide sessions in your own home.

Your one-to-one exercise sessions will be carefully tailored to your current fitness level and abilities. At the Surrey Cardiac Rehab gym, you will also have access to a wide range of specialist exercise equipment, should you wish to use it.

Finishing Rehab

On completion of your programme, we will carry out a discharge review to assess your progress and discuss how you can continue working towards your longer-term health and lifestyle goals.
